On Sunday, March 13th, Temple B’nai Abraham held their annual Mitzvah Morning. It was a very successful event, with 10 on-site projects; 5 collections; a Bridges Run, and a blood drive in conjunction with Community Blood Services. The event was co-sponsored by temple groups including the Social Action Committee, Men's Club, Membership, Sisterhood, the PTA of the Jewish Learning Program, The Early School Parents’ Council and Teen Tikkun Olam. Social Action Chair Lisa Reisboard noted, “Thank you to the over 150 volunteers of all ages who came and helped make the event successful. Some of the accomplishments included preparing and packing 150 fresh lunch bags for Bridges; 400 toiletry and dental hygiene bags for Franciscan Ministries at St. Ann's Church in Newark; and 100 welcome packets for Comfort Project 360 of St. Barnabas Medical Center.”
The projects that were included in Mitzvah Morning, but are now on-going temple initiatives, include a sneaker collection for Dunk Your Kicks (Max Cure foundation), a Prom and Bat Mitzvah dress collection for Project G.L.A.M, and hand -knit lap blankets for the residents at Daughters of Israel. If you have any questions or would like to donate to any of the ongoing projects, please call the temple office at 973-994-2290.
