Teen Charged With 3 Car Burglary Attempts In Livingston
As the state cracks down on teens being lured into car theft rings, another teen was charged with car burglaries.
LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston police said this week that they have charged a 16-year-old boy from East Orange with burglary and attempted burglary after car break-ins in late June.
Police said that on June 28, a Tuesday, they responded to two Baker Road residences on reports of burglaries to vehicles.
Police found that someone entered or tried to enter a Jeep Wrangler, a azda CX-5, and an Infinity QX6.

According to police, someone entered and ransacked the contents of two of the cars, and tried to enter another, but it was locked.
Detective Mike Spano investigated the incident and subsequently charged the East Orange boy.

His charges will be heard in Juvenile Court, police said.
Recently, lawmakers in New Jersey proposed increasing criminal penalties for car thefts because gangs have been recruiting teens to help steal cars, since the penalties may not be as severe for youths.
