Teens affirm their baptism in the Rite of Confirmation, Sunday May 31
Five teenagers who are members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Chatham will affirm their baptism on Sunday May 31st at 10:00 a.m.
We are blessed to have many children of all ages who worship with their families each Sunday. Our Confirmation preparation class includes youth in seventh and eighth grades, and it is taught by our Pastor, the Rev. Dr. Christa M. Compton. The two-year curriculum includes an introduction to the Old and New Testaments, the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, Holy Communion, Holy Baptism, the Reformation, and other topics related to a life of faith. Together we explore what it means to be a follower of Jesus and how we live out our faith in the ways we serve, worship, pray, study scripture, and give to others.
Youth from Gloria Dei are encouraged to attend a week of Confirmation Camp held each August at Crossroads Camp and Retreat Center. In addition, the young people of Gloria Dei are actively involved in leading worship and serving others in God’s name.
We participate in a variety of youth events sponsored by the New Jersey Synod, and a group from Gloria Dei will attend the ELCA National Youth Gathering in Detroit in the summer of 2015.
