Livingston Men's Club Embarks on Whitewater Rafting Trip

The Temple B'nai Abraham Men's Club battled high water on their exhilarating third annual Lehigh River summer whitewater rafting trip.

Temple B’nai Abraham Men’s Club held its third annual summer whitewater rafting trip on the Lehigh River on Sunday, August 3. The 19 participants, TBA members and their guests, traveled in three boats to endure 13 miles of Class II and III rapids on the lower section of the Lehigh River. This whitewater rafting trip was planned and organized by TBA Men’s Club Vice President Carey Gertler and supported by Men’s Club Co-President Brian Altman and Past President Craig Kantor.

Class II rapids are medium rapids of low difficulty with passages clear whereas Class III are rapids with high irregular waves and narrow passages that require complex maneuvering. A Class III rapid may be caused by a combination of narrowing riverbed, standing waves, small falls and large boulders around which the raft must steer.

Also, a high volume of water may cause waves over three feet. All members of the club enjoyed this exhilarating adventure as they were rafted on the exciting rapids through the fabulous Lehigh River Gorge combined with its spectacular wilderness scenery.
