Ten Livingston High School Grads and One Former Coach To Enter Hall of Fame

New inductees to the Big L Hall of Fame Athlete Class of 2011 to be honored Sunday.

A group of 10 Livingston High School graduates and one former track and field coach will be inducted into the Big L Hall of Fame Athlete Class of 2011 this weekend. 

The new members will be honored for their important athletic achievements, and in one case, a LHS graduate will be awarded posthumously, said Don Schwartz, who serves on the hall of fame committee. The induction event will take place 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Mayfair Farms in West Orange.

 - Bruce David Beck, class of 1974, former tennis player, student-athlete and current award-winning NBC News 4 New York sports anchor.

- Lyndsay Berra, class of 1995, former hockey captain who also played soccer and softball.

- Erin Boland, class of 1995, 1,000-point scorer in basketball, All-State athlete and USA Today selectee. 

-Robert J. Brower, class of 1977, former All-State football player, holds many LHS running records. 

- Stephanie DelPreore, class of 2000, all time leading girls basketball scorer-- redounding and scoring record for lhs and current head women’s basketball and track coach at the University of Bridgeport, Conn. 

- Michael Dominick Duffy, class of 1969, former football and lacrosse player, played many positions in football for Lancers and contributor to the Livingston Junior Lancers football program.

- Richard J. McLaughlin, class of 1978, started hockey at LHS and played baseball, currently a successful high school hockey coach in New Jersey.

- John Modugno, class of 1979, deceased, former quarterback and football team leader and a baseball player who won awards at the Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team.

- Patrick J. Ippolito, class of 1958, played on one of first soccer teams, very involved in developing the Livingston Little League program, volunteer for several different township organizations, member of the Livingston First Aid Squad.

- Charles Richardson, retired LHS track and field coach who developed the track program at the high school and Heritage Middle School, brought the Essex County relays to the high school and former science teacher. 

Schwartz said the new inductees will receive an achievement plaque, a picture career highlight poster, a poster of their high school sports days and an achievement award from the township council. 

The members will also have a plaque inside the new hall of fame inside the high school’s new fitness and wellness center.
