The Region 4 wrestling tournament kicks off Tuesday at 6 p.m. at West Orange High School with the pre-quarterfinal round. The quarterfinals will be Friday at 6 p.m., and they semis and finals will begin Saturday at 9 a.m.
Several Livingston High School and Newark Academy wrestlers will be vying to place in the top three of their respective weight classes, earning a trip to the state finals, March 4-7, at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
The Lancers pushed seven grapplers through the District 14 Tournament where they placed second as a team behind Bloomfield High School, and coach Pat Trabucco was named the District's Coach of the Year. Its District 14 winners included P.J. Farinella at 119 pounds, Brandon Bright (145) who reapeated as champion from last year, Anthony Paris (189) and Michael Silverberg (215).

The Minutemen had zero District 14 winners, but qualified David Werner (140), Alex Jilla (145) and Brian Knierim (152).

The sixth-seeded Livingston ice hockey team fell to third-seeded Verona 6-3 on Saturday and were eliminated from the McGinnis Cup.
A pair of Lancer bowlers, Scott Sperling and Brandon Gershon, were in action Wednesday in the NJSIAA Individual Tournament of Champions. Gershon rolled a 595 and Sperling 561 three-game series, but they each failed to escape the first qualifying round.
