'The Wizard of Oyz' at Temple Emanu-El

Part of annual Purim Spiel celebration, runs March 7 and March 11.

Special performances of “The Wizard of Oyz," part of 's annual 2012 Purim Spiel celebration will take place this week as part of the Purim holiday celebration.

The event involves temple members of all ages, from the religious school, the Early Childhood Center, teenagers, adults, clergy and staff.  

Come see the fun in this wild musical featuring a great band, costumes and more.

There will be two showings: Wednesday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m., (Erev Purim) and Sunday, March 11 at 9:45 a.m. The Sunday performance will be followed by the annual Purim Carnival.

The Purim Spiel is open to non-Temple members, but reservations must be made in advance by calling the temple office at (973) 992-5560 or send an email to programming@emanuel.org.

On Sunday at 9:45 a.m., the community is invited to attend the Purim Spiel. Guests are encouraged to bring boxes of pasta to use as noisemakers that will then be donated to the CHOW Food Bank. There is no charge for the Sunday events.

Participants are encouraged to wear costumes to all the events.

Temple Emanu-El is located at 264 W. Northfield Road in Livingston.
