LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston town officials are offering a way for residents to prepay any amount of their 2018 property taxes by the end of the year. Thursday's municipal announcement comes as many New Jersey residents try to get a jump on the financial crunch for homeowners that is expected to come with the Trump Administration’s recently passed tax reform law.

Residents have several options for making prepayments:
- in-person payment at the Tax Office at Town Hall, 357 S. Livingston Avenue, during the normal business hours of 8:30 am – 4:30 pm,
- depositing payment at any time on or before December 31, 2017, in the Drop Box located outside at the back of Town Hall, or
- making online payments through the Township of Livingston website, www.livingstonnj.org.
According to Livingston officials, any payments mailed in must be postmarked on or before Sunday, December 31, 2017, to be accepted. The Township Tax Office will also be open on Saturday morning, December 30, from 8 a.m. to noon to receive in-person payments.

“Be prepared for long lines, as many residents may choose to pay in person during these last few days of 2017,” officials advised.
Any 2018 payments made after Sunday, December 31, 2017, will be mailed back to the corresponding block and lot, town officials said.
“Please note that township employees cannot give tax advice,” officials noted. “If you have questions or concerns, we recommend consulting your accountant, tax preparer or financial advisor.”
Prepayments applied to future bills will not be refunded, officials said.
