Several Thieves Try To Break Into Porsches, BWMs, Homes in Livingston In 1 Night

Livingston police responded to car burglaries and burglary attempts that, in several cases, were foiled by locked doors, they said.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Several thieves either broke into and tried to break into a series of cars in Livingston on one night last week, police said. In at least two cases, "several" suspects couldn't get into a car, so they tried to get into a home instead, according to the police reports.

The reports are as follows:

This past Friday, Oct. 6, Livingston police responded to South Livingston Avenue at 9:06 a.m., where a homeowner said that overnight, "several" suspects had tried to enter a Porsche Macan in the driveway. The suspects couldn't get in because it was locked, police said. The thieves then tried the front door of the house, but found it was locked, too.

At 10 a.m., police then responded to Bennington Road on a report of a burglary attempt to two vehicles. Homeowners also said that sometime overnight, several suspects attempted to enter the two BMWs parked in the driveway but were unsuccessful because they were locked.

At 10:26 a.m., Livingston officers responded to a Winchester Road residence on a report of an attempted burglary to a vehicle and the residence. a homeowner reported seeing an interior light on in their 2022 Porsche Macan. then they saw that the Porsche, which had been unlocked, was ransacked. The home's rear door looked like someone had tried and failed to pry it open.

That night, at 7:39 p.m., Livingston officers responded to a Bennington Road residence on a report of a burglary to a vehicle. The homeowner said that overnight, someone had entered their Toyota Rav 4, which was unlocked, and had taken a wallet.

At 8:50 p.m. that evening, Livingston police responded to a Fellswood Drive home on a report of an attempted burglary to a vehicle. The homeowner showed video from a few hours earlier of someone trying and failing to enter their locked Porsche Macan.

Two days later, at 8 p.m., police responded to Winchester Road. The homeowner showed police that there were pry marks on the back door to his home. A review of cameras showed the incident happened on Oct. 5, around when the other overnight attempts were.

On Monday, Oct. 9, at 6:48 a.m., Livingston police responded to Stoneham Drive on a report of an attempted burglary to a vehicle and the residence. The homeowner had reviewed his video surveillance and found that "several" suspects had attempted to get into his Mercedes GLE and were unsuccessful because it was locked. The suspects tried to get into the house through the front door, but it was locked too.

The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating all the incidents.
