Three Cars Stolen In Livingston, Then Found In 3 Different Cities

In the last two weeks, three cars were stolen in Livingston, then found in different cities. All three were unlocked with keys inside.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston police received a report of one car theft last week and two the week before. A home break-in was also reported. Here are the reports:

Home Burglary

Last Tuesday at 3:46 p.m., Livingston officers responded to a Homestead Terrace home on a report of a burglary. Homeowners told police they'd arrived home to find the bedrooms of the residence ransacked with unknown proceeds stolen. Someone entered through a rear window, police said. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating.

Car Thefts And Recoveries

This past Friday, at 9:08 a.m., Livingston officers responded to a Pebble Beach Drive residence on a report of a stolen vehicle. A woman said her Audi A5 had been stolen overnight. It had been left unlocked with the key fobs inside. It was recovered later that night in East Orange, police said.

On Sunday, June 18, at 2:23 a.m., a Livingston police officer saw two vehicles (a BMW 330 and Infinity Q50) driving aggressively and passing one another on Shrewsbury Drive, police said. They determined that the Infinity had a stolen license plate affixed to it, and the BMW had just been stolen from a Fredon Drive residence. The vehicle had been left unlocked with the valet key left inside.

The BMW was recovered a short time later in Irvington, police said.

On Saturday, June 17, at 9:49 p.m., Livingston police responded to the Westminster Hotel on a report of a stolen vehicle. A man said he was staying at the hotel and his 2021 Range Rover was stolen some time the night before. It had been left unlocked with the key fob inside. The vehicle was recovered later the same day it was reported in New York City.
