Trinity Welcomes New Director of Music

A new Director of Music, José Daniel Mojica, has joined the ministry staff at Trinity Covenant Church in Livingston. A strong singer and pianist originally from Puerto Rico, Mr. Mojica, who goes by his middle name, brings many gifts to Trinity’s worship and programs.

Daniel Mojica first joined the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico to major in piano. But once professors heard him sing, they convinced him to switch to the Voice Department! While there, he was chosen to perform in all the opera and “zarzuela” (a Spanish traditional form of musical comedy) productions. His professional debut was in a Spanish-language production of The Merry Widow, and with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra he performed the tenor part in Mozart’s Requiem and the zarzuela La leyenda del Beso.

He received his Bachelor in Education from the Conservatory in 2010, his Bachelor in Voice Performance in 2013 and his Artist Diploma in Voice Performance in 2014.

Daniel also used his prodigious gifts and desire to worship God as the music and choir director, pianist, organist and composer for many years at Bethel Lutheran Church and Getsemani Lutheran Church in Puerto Rico, and in Rutherford, NJ at Immanuel Lutheran Church, while still continuing his opera and piano career.
