Tunnel to Tower Photos: Livingston Firefighters Follow Fallen Hero's Run

Race honors NYC firefighter who died on 9/11.

Ten years ago, an off-duty New York City firefighter, Stephen Stiller, ran through the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel in full gear to get to the burning World Trade Center. Stiller was one of 343 firefighters who died in the attacks. But his story has inspired thousands  – including Livingston volunteer firefighters – to follow in his footsteps.

Each year, the Tunnel to Tower run in NYC raises money for the children of fallen firefighters, police officers and military who have been seriously injured or died in the line of duty. On Sunday, Livingston’s volunteer firefighters -- Deputy Chief Ralph Rea, Tim Foley, Mike Stolfi, Jim Kedrie, Scott Machlovitz, Carlos Zapata, Gary Stajek, Conor Gardner, Sean Donnelly, Kevin Donnelly, Craig J. Melhorn, Steve DeHaven, John Anderson, and Paul Antunes – joined the 10th anniversary race. (Read more about the race here).

Thank you to John Anderson who shares his photos from the event.
