Two Stolen Cars Recovered In Past Week, Livingston Police Say
The Livingston police helped recover two stolen cars and responded to an alleged "road rage" incident in the past week, they said.
LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston police recovered two stolen vehicles and responded to an alleged incident of "road rage" in the past week, they said.
Here is the information they released, from reports over the past week:
Last Thursday, around 8:21 a.m., police stopped a 2005 Cadillac Deville on Shrewsbury Drive that had been reported stolen out of Irvington. They arrested the driver, Carlton Mayfield, 54, of East Orange. He was charged with receiving stolen property (a vehicle) and released on a summons, police said.

On the same day, police say, a resident of Melrose Drive reported that she saw on surveillance video that suspects had pulled up to her residence early that morning and tried to enter the car. Then, the suspects tried to get into the rear of the home. They gave up and left the scene, police said.

This past Monday, at 8:04 a.m., the Livingston police responded to a business on Naylon Place on a report of a stolen landscape truck. The business owner said his truck with equipment was stolen some time over the weekend.
The truck was recovered a short time later in Newark, including some of the equipment. The Livingston
Detective Bureau is investigating.
Arrest After Alleged 'Road Rage' Incident
The Livingston police also said that they arrested a local man on Monday in what the police said was a "road rage" incident.
Police said that on Oct. 30, around 4:54 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Beverly Road and Hazel Avenue on a report of a disturbance in the roadway. Upon officers' arrival, they were advised the suspect had left the scene, police said.
Police said that a "suspected road rage incident led to" Thomas Heller, 56, of Livingston, allegedly reaching into the victim’s vehicle and grabbing a pair of hearing protection headphones. Police allege that Heller then used the headphones to smash the victim's window, breaking it.
Police said that an investigation led to Heller. They charged him with criminal damage and creating a disturbance, they said. Then, they released him on a summons.
