Utility Pole Collapses, Blocks Traffic In Livingston On 9/11

The Livingston Fire Department also put out two utility pole fires at the same intersection last week.

A collapsed utility pole on Eisenhower Parkway fell across the roadway and caused a traffic backup in Livingston on Sept. 11. [See above photo]

The Livingston Fire Department reported that there were no electric hookups on the pole, which was eventually removed by LFD Engine #2.

Fire officials also responded to two, non-related utility pole conflagrations last week.

On Sept. 12, firefighters responded to a utility pole fire at Meadowbrook Road and Larkspur Place, arriving on the scene to find that a large tree branch fell and was caught on primary wires. Firefighters secured the area and notified PSE&G.

On Sept. 13, firefighter responded to the same intersection, finding that a tree was set ablaze as a result of fallen primary wires. Firefighters wet the tree down and extinguished the flames, the LFD reported.
