Victim Of Livingston Hit-And-Run Identified As Newark Woman, 35

Essex County Prosecutors are seeking information on a late-night Livingston hit-and-run that left a Newark woman dead.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Prosecutors are looking for a hit-and-run driver after they found a Newark woman dead near a Livingston intersection last Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that a police officer who was patrolling discovered Angelica M. Garcia, 35, of Newark, a pedestrian, on the 300 block of South Orange Avenue. She was pronounced dead at 11:44 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a vehicle fled the scene after striking her.

No arrests had been made as of this Wednesday morning.

Spokesperson Katherine Carter said she could not give more details.

The site of the crash was South Orange Avenue and Goodhart Drive. The area is wooded but
close to an active living community for residents 55 and over.
