Weekly Metal Pickup Resumes May 8 For Livingston Residents

Weekly metal recycling collection by the Livingston Department of Public Works will resume on Friday, May 8, 2020. The program had been temporarily suspended as a safety precaution due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Residents who have metal items to be collected should schedule an appointment by 12 pm on Thursday, the day before the Friday pickup is desired.

- Complete the form to request a Metal Pickup online and receive an on-screen confirmation and email.
- Submit a Service Request and receive a confirmation email.
- Email ticolari@livingstonnj.org and receive a confirmation email.
Those without access to a computer can call 973-992-5000 ext. #5522 to register.
Provide the resident’s name, address, and a brief description of the items to be picked up.
Metal items include refrigerators, air conditioning units, motors, freezers, washing machines, dryers, cake mixers, auto parts, fans, irons, metal dehumidifiers, emptied helium tanks, hot water heaters, microwave ovens, lawn mowers, sinks, wheel rims, file cabinets, and basketball hoops.
Electronics, such as televisions and computers, are not metal items and will not be picked up with the metal collection. These should be disposed of at one of the Township’s Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding Events, or at one of Essex County’s Computer and Electronics Recycling Days. Spring events have been canceled, but the status of upcoming events will be available at livingstonnj.org and ecuanj.com.
