It's so hard to call off church services. On the one hand, nobody wants anyone to get into a car accident, or slip and fall - always better to be safe, right? On the other hand, people look forward to worshiping God together. Yes, we can and do worship him wherever we are, and not just on Sundays...but the time set aside for song and prayer and word and silence is life-giving, as it was meant to be. People miss it: so who should get to make the decision to call off something so important? Sigh.
Today was supposed to be our children's Christmas pageant. We all feel bad about missing it, but it would have been hard to do without all the children, and some folks wouldn't have been able to make it. Some roads are still icy. Those who live further away, particularly farther north and west, would have been left out. Sad!
But, we expect to be able to get together next Sunday, and we hope the rest of the winter's weather leaves Sundays alone. Be warm, friends.
