Will Macy’s Close Its Newport Centre Mall Store In Hudson County? 100 Locations Face Elimination

Macy's has been a fixture at the Jersey City mall for years. Will it continue that way?

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Macy’s has announced that it will be closing almost 100 stores by “early 2017,” but so far, there is no word as to whether the location at the Newport Centre Mall in Hudson County will be on the chopping block.

The nationwide retailer didn’t name the specific locations that are facing the axe in its Thursday news release, but said that the stores would be listed “at a later date” when the company finalizes its decisions.

Macy’s has a store in the Newport Centre Mall in Jersey City, as well as The Mall At Short Hills on Morris Turnpike, the Livingston Mall on Eisenhower Parkway, Route 22 in Springfield, Highway 46 in Wayne.
