Winter Floor Hockey for Special Needs Children

Township offers league for "exceptional children"; enrollment taking place now.

The (SYLS) “Shining Star” Sports League: A League for Exceptional Children, adapted specifically for children with special needs, has announced registration is in full swing for its inaugural Winter Floor Hockey League.  Enrollment will remain open for residents and non-residents until Friday, February 3 at noon.

The Winter Floor Hockey will run on Saturdays from February 4 to March 31, with the exception of February 18.

“The leagues are designed to fit a child so that she or he will benefit from the physical, mental and social interaction with their peers,” says SYLS Adaptive Recreation Coordinator Mark Silance. “As well as being educational and competitive, participants can experience the joy and camaraderie of team sports. We have received so many positive comments from parents in the soccer and basketball leagues and overwhelming support from the community for the ‘Shining Star’ programs.”
