Woman Struck and Killed by Train near Montclair Train Station
NJ Transit and Montclair Police investigating an incident of a woman being struck and killed by a train Monday, Jan. 5.

A woman was struck and killed by a train just west of the Watchung Avenue Station shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 5.
The incident was reported at 5:27 p.m. and involved the MidTown Direct train 6263, NJ Transit spokesperson Nancy Snyder said, according to NJ.com.
The train, on the Montclair-Boonton line, was traveling from the Hoboken Terminal and supposed to arrive at the Montclair State University station at 5:40 p.m. None of the 300 passengers and crew members were injured, NJ.com said. The passengers were subsequently transferred to another train.

Rail service was subject to 20 to 30 minute delays on the Montclair-Boonton line.
Montclair Police and NJ Transit continue to investigate the incident, Snyder said. The identity of the woman has not been released. No other information has been made available at this time.
