
An Asbury Park Native and Neptune Resident, Griggs Will Help Steer Housing Development
Donna M. Blaze, CEO has announced the appointment of Derrick T. Griggs, Neptune NJ, as Chief Operating Officer at the Affordable Housing Alliance. “We welcome Derrick back to the Monmouth County area. We are fortunate to have found someone with his experience and success to help us achieve our strategic goals.”
A graduate of Asbury Park High School, Derrick has an undergraduate degree in Finance as well as a master’s degree in International Business, from Rutgers University. Most recently, he was Real Estate Director and COO for Housing and Neighborhood Development Services, Inc. (HANDS, Inc.), located in Orange, NJ.

“I am very happy to have been chosen by Donna and the Board of Directors to serve as the new COO of the Affordable Housing Alliance, “said Derrick. “This position affords me the opportunity to return home and assist my community in a time of need. Providing affordable housing in Monmouth County is always needed, but never more so than now, after the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. I look forward to meeting this challenge with my new team at AHA.”
Derrick has over fifteen years of experience in commercial real estate development, business planning and analysis, property management, non-profit development, financial planning and analysis and mergers and acquisitions. Previous employers include Cendant Corporation, Suburban Propane and Lucent Technologies. Derrick is a former member of the City of Orange Zoning Board of Adjustments.

Derrick and his wife, internist Dr. Abeer Griggs, are parents of Derrick Jr., who was born on July 10, 2012.
