Authorities Identify Man Who Died In Eatontown Collision

Thomas W. Gattis, 70, of Eatontown, died in the crash, according to the prosecutor's office.

EATONTOWN, NJ — Authorities identified the pedestrian who died in a collision Saturday evening on Route 35. Thomas W. Gattis, 70, of Eatontown, died in the crash, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Gattis was crossing Route 35 when a vehicle collided with him at about 7:43 p.m., said MCPO Public Information Officer Chris Swenderman. The vehicle was heading south on Route 35 in the left lane approaching South Street during the collision, Swenderman said.

The MCPO has not determined who is at fault, Swenderman said. Authorities have not publicly identified the driver. He or she was not issues any summonses and has not been charged, Swenderman said.
