Back to School Party for Big Brothers and Sisters is Magic at the Mall
The Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties threw over 100 local children a huge pizza party and magic show before distributing new backpacks and school supplies to all.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties (BBBSMMC) held its 11th Annual Back to School Party on Aug. 17 at the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown. Approximately 110 children attended with their mentor or parent and were treated to pizza, soda and a magic show by magician Ryan Shapiro. Each child received a backpack full of new school supplies that were donated by individuals, businesses and organizations
William Salcedo, the agency’s executive director, reminded the children of the importance of education and that they can make something of themselves by working hard and focusing on school.
“The Back to School Party is one of our biggest events of the year for the children we serve in our mentoring program. Starting school with a is exciting and gives kids a sense of confidence and gets them excited for school and learning. We are grateful to Monmouth Mall for hosting our party for 11 years and for the gift cards as well as our community partners who contribute to making this event successful,” said Salcedo. “Today is about community involvement and assistance in helping our kids get ready for school and get them on the right path for the year.”
