OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Monmouth County DWI Task Force will be conducting a DWI checkpoint this Friday night, August 5, in Ocean Township. The checkpoint will run from 10 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday and it will be conducted along Hwy. 35 north at Lincoln Drive (Asbury Circle). Officers from Ocean Township will work alongside members of the Task Force to determine the sobriety of drivers, according to Allenhurst Police Chief Michael Schneider, who is also the coordinator of the Monmouth County DWI Task Force. The task force is required by law to publicly announce when and where the checkpoints will be.

The Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club (AHYC) invites the community to experience the thrill of sailing with its Adult Sailing Lessons and Youth Keelboat Sailing Program, offering hands-on instruction, teamwork, and unforgettable time on the water in Atlantic Highlands Harbor and Sandy Hook Bay.
<h3>Adult Sailing Lessons Now Open</h3>
Designed for beginners and those looking to build confidence on the water, AHYC’s Adult Sailing Program provides a comprehensive introduction to sailing led by U.S. Sailing-certified instructors.
Participants begin with on-land instruction, learning the fundamentals of sailing and hands-on rigging of the Flying Scot, a stable and comfortable 19-foot sailboat ideal for both leisure and racing. As skills develop, sailors may also have the opportunity to sail larger vessels, including a BluSail 24’ and a Peterson 34’.
<h3>Youth Keelboat Sailing Program Builds Skills and Confidence</h3>
<a href="https://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/applet_registration_form.php?regatta_id=31110" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">AHYC’s Keelboat Youth Sailing Program,</a> June 8 - August 10, 2026,&nbsp;offers a dynamic summer-long experience for young sailors ages 12–18, combining sailing instruction with leadership development and competitive racing.
Participants will:
<ul><li>Learn to operate and sail a keelboat as part of a team</li><li>Build navigation, communication, and teamwork skills</li><li>Compete in local regattas and races, often alongside adult crews</li><li>Gain experience managing a vessel with guidance from qualified chaperones</li></ul>
While safety is always prioritized, students take an active leadership role on the boats, developing independence and confidence on the water.
