Eatontown Up To 13 Positive Coronavirus Cases; 7 In Long Branch
Monmouth County officials recently started releasing town-by-town counts of positive cases.
Update: Since publication, officials reported two more cases of the novel coronavirus in Eatontown, raising the borough's total to 13.
EATONTOWN, NJ — Eleven people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Eatontown as of Tuesday morning. Long Branch is up to seven, with one resident from another town quarantined in the city, according to the Monmouth County Health Department.
County officials recently began releasing a breakdown of cases by municipality. Freehold Township currently has the most positive cases at 28 of the county's 207 total. No further details about patients are publicly available.

Eatontown declared a local emergency Wednesday to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Officials closed all Eatontown recreational facilities, including parks and playgrounds, except the F. “As we see these numbers climb, while anticipated, it reminds us why social distancing is so important,” said County Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone. “Not only is it mandated, but it is critical for everyone to stay at home as much as possible so that we can slow the spread."
