Eatontown Baseball League Kicks Off New Season and Honors 5 New Hall of Famers

Opening ceremonies were held on April 30 for the 2011 baseball season in Eatontown.

Saturday morning was a time to celebrate the present and honor the past at 80 Acres Park in Eatontown at the opening day ceremony for Eatontown Baseball League (EBL).

The day kicked off with the introduction of each team as players and coaches ran onto the field lining up on the edge of the outfield grass. With the current players ringing the field, long-time EBL coach and Hall of Fame member John Bauer took the microphone and spoke about the contributions of the five men who were being inducted to the EBL Hall Of Fame.

Several honorees had pivotal roles during the early years of the league as coaches, he said, and also assisted in the construction of the clubhouse. The 2011 inductees are Al Carrino, Jim Edwards, Bill Frederick, Garret Worthley and Tom Blaney, who is also a coach in the league and serves as EBL Vice President.
