Monmouth Medical Center Presents “Brainstorm” – a Free Seminar on Psychosocial Support for Brain Tumor Families

The David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center at Monmouth Medical Center is hosting “Brainstorm: A Dialogue and Education Series,” a free community seminar scheduled for Monday, December 5 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in Monmouth Medical Center’s Borden Auditorium. Designed for those affected by all types of brain tumors, the free seminar will focus on finding psychosocial support for families affected by brain tumors.  

 

Guest speaker Wendy Berk, M.S.W, L.C.S.W, clinical social worker at the David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center, will cover topics including the importance of finding support at each stage of the brain tumor journey and the benefits of counseling for both patients and family members. Berk will also provide practical suggestions for coping with anger, grief, stress and other emotions that patients and families may experience before, during and after treatment. The seminar will concluded with a panel discussion featuring brain tumor survivors who will share their personal stories.

Registration (sandwiches and snacks) will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the program and panel discussion at 5:30 p.m. A free “Art is Good” workshop will be offered in a separate room for school age children and teens whose family members are attending the Brainstorm seminar.
