Falcons' Spring Sports Roundup
Senior AJ Visconti shares how Monmouth Regional athletes use early morning workouts to improve skills and the scoop on who got into what school.

Coinciding with the start of the spring sports season at Monmouth is the Falcons’ 6 AM Club.
Coach Dan Wendal, an assistant football and softball coach, and I started this unofficial club two years ago with early morning workouts on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the weight room. It has now evolved into group workouts in the small gym attended by athletes from every team in the school—especially wrestlers and football and softball players and members of the track team. Athletes use this time to become faster, stronger, more agile and overall better players.
Juniors Max Neis, Anthony Baklouk, and Chris Rolke, who are on the football team, wrestling team, and track teams, are consistent 6 AM goers, even though it’s the beginning of the track season. I plan to join the club once again this week.

Since Wendal is coaching the softball team, Coach Jason Morrell, officially named the new head football coach last week, has taken over early morning duty and runs the show. As of now, both Wendal and Morrell will be the only two returning football coaches to the football team next season.
Up this week in Falcons’ sports, the track team will scrimmage at Monmouth this Wednesday against Mater Dei. The baseball team will host Edison Monday and the lacrosse team will play Howell at home as well. On Tuesday, the softball team will play at home against Southern. Hopefully the weather will not affect many of these scrimmages because the teams would like to take advantage of the game-speed atmosphere before the regular season starts.

As the colleges send out their decision letters to the seniors of Monmouth, most are patiently waiting out this gruesome time. Along with the athletes who committed to schools, some seniors have already chosen where they are going next year:
- Patrick Rounds, who is president of our school, will be attending the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.
- Ashley Daniel, An Nguyen, Danielle Lodato, Tara Patti, and Ricky Pulido have decided to attend Rutgers University.
- Marcus Johnson has chosen to go to the University of Missouri.
- Haley Bowen has decided to go to James Madison University in Virginia.
- Tom DenBleyker will be going to Flager College in Florida.
- Jake Aumack will be going to Towson University in the fall.
- Emma Murray will be going to the University of Maryland.
I will be attending Lehigh University next fall. Sorry if I missed anyone, let me know if anyone has decided!
