Former Monmouth University Great Makes MLB Debut
Brad Bach makes first appearance with San Diego Padres on Wednesday

After shattering records at Monmouth University, pitcher Brad Brach has now gotten a chance to do what every kid who ever thrown a baseball wants; play in the majors.
Brach was called up by San Diego Padres on Tuesday night, and becomes only the second Monmouth University baseball player to pitch in MLB. Edward Halicki, a Monmouth Hall of Famer and member of the class of 1972, was the only other player.
Brach made his major league debut for the Padres on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Although San Diego fell to their California rivals, Brach pitched exceptionally well, going 1 1/3 innings and striking out three batters in the process. One of those batters in All-Star Matt Kemp, who has legitimate chance at winning the Triple Crown and National League MVP this season.
San Diego's talented bullpen has been thinner since the team traded dominant setup man Mike Adams to the Texas Rangers in July, so hopefully Brach will be able to find a niche for himself.

Brach certainly earned his call up to the Major Leagues after leading the minors in appearances with 67 and converting 34 of 37 save opportunities.
