Free Tax Preparation at Monmouth County Libraries

Free income tax preparation is not offered at either the Tinton Falls or Eatontown libraries but residents are welcome to the service at several large local libraries. 

Volunteers from AARP are available at the Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library in Shrewsbury and the Wall Township branch. This service is available for low-and middle-income taxpayers with simple returns. 

Preparations will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis. You do not have to be a senior citizen to have your tax return done by the AARP. But you will need last year's tax returns, so bring them with you.  

The schedule at Library Headquarters, Eastern Branch in Shrewsbury  and Wall Township Library are as follows:

Mondays  9:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Wednesdays  9:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Thursdays  9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Fridays  9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Saturdays  9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Sundays  1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Please note: These hours are approximate. Depending on the volume of clients, the tax assistants may stop taking new clients an hour or more before the end time listed.

In addition, residents can find a selection of paper tax forms at most Monmouth County Library branches. The Tinton Falls Library will have some IRS forms but not all and offers assistance using online resources, according to the borough's Web site.
