High School Referendum Defeated
Monmouth Regional's bid to get taxpayers to approve a $12.3 million construction project was voted down by 175 votes in unofficial results Tuesday night.

According to Business Administrator Maria Anne Parry, the referendum was defeated by 175 votes as of 10:30 Tuesday night in unofficial results.
"We're disappointed," she said. "But the administration will discuss it and see what's next."

Parry said that about 1,100 voters turned out to vote out of approximately 20,000 registered voters in the three towns in the district.
Results will not be official until later in the week, said Parry.
