The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Long Branch and the surrounding area through 1 a.m. Wednesday, warning of hazardous driving conditions that are expected during the evening commute.
The service’s Mount Holly office is calling for snow to begin this afternoon, changing over to sleet sometime around 5 p.m. and freezing rain later as temperatures begin to rise above freezing overnight. Rain will continue Wednesday through the day, changing back to freezing rain and sleet before becoming all snow again Thursday.
The service is calling for 2 to 4 inches of snow Thursday, but some reports are calling for more than 4 inches.

- 9 p.m.-midnight: 35 degrees; freezing rain changes to rain.

- Midnight-3 a.m.: 37 degrees, rain.
- 3-6 a.m.: 38 degrees, rain. Wind chill about 30 degrees
- 6-9 a.m.: 39 degrees, rain.
- 9 a.m.-noon: Rising to 44 degrees, rain.
