
The Performing Arts Series has been announced for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Lincroft, NJ. The series kicks off with “Song of the Wind,” a relaxing evening of Japanese music with flutes and strings on October 11 at 8 pm. The highlights include both traditional and contemporary Japanese pieces with an autumnal flavor for shakuhachi flute (bamboo flute), koto and shamisen. Featured are musicians Glenn Shouyuu Swann, shakuhachi; Mutsumi Takamizu and Masumi Takamizu, koto, shamisen, and voice.
Other events for the series include: “Amahl And the Night Visitors,” a modern opera written by Gian Carlo Menotti on December 12 at 7 pm and December 13 at 6 pm. January’s concert is Chamber Music of Debussy, Mozart and Bernstein will be featured with acclaimed musicians Joel DeWitt, violin, and Brian Gilmore, piano, on Sunday January 25 at 4:30 pm. April will welcome a Story Slam: Telling Our Stories. This event, performed in the manner of the Moth Radio Hour from Public Radio, will be on Sunday April 19 at 4:30 pm. A reception will follow all four concerts.
Standard prices are: Adults $25. Students/Seniors $15, and Children (under 12) $5. To buy individual tickets seven-days or more in advance, the prices are Adults $20. Students/Seniors $12, and Children (under 12) $5. The full series tickets for all four concerts tickets can be bought ahead: Adults $75. Students/Seniors $40, and Children (under 12) $20.
