Long Branch Man Tried To Get Drugs Mailed To Him In Monmouth County Jail: Prosecutor

The man was in jail on charges of drug possession and distribution, and disarming a law enforcement officer during his prior arrest.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ -- A Long Branch man has been charged with trying to get suboxone mailed to him while he was in jail, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

William Coleman, 45, of Long Branch, has been in the Monmouth County Correctional Institute, Freehold Township, since March 18 on a host of charges, including possession of heroin, possession with intent to distribute and manufacturing/distribution of heroin, according to jail records. He also is charged with resisting arrest and disarming a law enforcement officers, and obstruction, according to those records.

Coleman was being held in lieu of $362,000 bail on those charges, according to jail records.

Coleman now additionally stands accused of conspiring with another man and "other unidentified subjects" to get suboxone mailed to him while sat in jail at the Monmouth County Correctional Institute in Freehold Township, according to the complaint.

Charges of conspiracy and attempted possession of suboxone were filed May 17, according to the complaint.

Bail on the new charges was set at $20,000, no 10 percent, according to the complaint.
