Long Branch School Employee Charged With Sex Assault Of Minor

"None the assaults occurred on school property or with any children that attend Long Branch schools," said Long Branch's chief of police.

LONG BRANCH, NJ — An employee in the Long Branch public school district has been arrested and charged with the sexual assault of a minor, according to Long Branch Police Chief Jason Roebuck.

The employee is Frank Kavanagh and he worked as an IT specialist with Long Branch public schools. According to the school website, his official title was "technical support field specialist." However:

"None the assaults occurred on school property or with any children that attend Long Branch schools," said Chief Roebuck.

Kavanagh, 36, was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a minor between the ages of 13 and 16, endangering the welfare of a child, sexual assault force/coercion, aggravated criminal sexual contact and criminal sexual contact, Chief Roebuck confirmed.

He was arrested Sept. 29 after Long Branch police conducted a month-and-a-half long investigation after they were notified by someone close to the victim.
