Long Branch Elementary Teacher Accused Of Molesting More Children

LONG BRANCH, NJ — A former Long Branch elementary school teacher is now suspected of molesting more children, said the Monmouth County Prosecutor. He also worked at a Red Bank charter school and police are trying to learn more information about his time there, police said.

Gustavo Barrientos, 53, of Tinton Falls, is currently being held in the Monmouth County Jail. He is charged with sexually assaulting multiple elementary school children, said Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni.

He was first arrested Feb. 14 after police said he showed a 10-year-old female student pornography and sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions. This happened during his time as an elementary school teacher in the Long Branch School District, said police. Police did not reveal which Long Branch elementary.

As a result of the continued joint investigation of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Long Branch PD, Barrientos has now been charged with sexually assaulting multiple other elementary school children. Police did not reveal the children's' ages or locations.

However, Barrientos also worked at Red Bank Charter School.

Investigators are still seeking additional information about Barrientos’ activities.
