Monmouth BOE Adopts New Anti-Bullying Policy

BOE met Tuesday night to approve staff salaries, a new policy, and respond to parent concerns about proper training for school coaches.

Tuesday night the Board of Education adopted the new anti-bullying policy for that reflects a state-wide mandate that took effect Sept. 1. No details were released in its initial reading, but Superintendent Charles Ford said that the policy would be posted to the school’s Web site by Wednesday. 

The board went through an array of recommendations to approve staff members and salaries for the fiscal school year.

A parent and vice-president of the PTSA, Cassandra Keys, asked whether sports coaches receive sexual abuse training.

Ford responded, “coaches are required to be fingerprinted.”

Board President Anthony Schaible added that MRHS coaches are mostly staff members; therefore, they receive the mandatory training.
