A month-long national observance, American Heart Month urges citizens to recognize the nationwide problem of heart and blood vessel diseases and support all essential programs required to solve the problem. Barnabas Health’s southern region hospitals, which in addition to Monmouth include Ocean County’s Community Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus are the region’s exclusive HeartCaring hospitals. HeartCaring is an innovative, comprehensive program that focuses on gender-disparities in cardiovascular care and on women as the primary healthcare consumer and decision maker.
“Our core commitment as HeartCaring hospitals is to build community and physician awareness around gender disparities in cardiovascular care and to improve detection and treatment of cardiovascular diseases for the women and families in our community,” says Frank J. Vozos, M.D., FACS, president and chief executive officer of Monmouth Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus.
