Monmouth Will Name New Women's Basketball Coach Today

Official introduction of new coach will be tomorrow at the MAC

The search for a new women's basketball coach at Monmouth University appears to be over as the university will make an announcement this afternoon that is has found former head coach Stephanie Gaitley's  replacement.

It is expected that the announcement will be made shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. 

The official introduction of Monmouth’s seventh head women’s basketball coach will take place in the Hall of Fame Lounge of the Multipurpose Activity Center on Thursday, beginning at 12:00 p.m., as the announcement will be made by Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Marilyn McNeil, and President Paul Gaffney.

On April 1, the university announced that it had accepted Gaitley's request to be released early from her contract.

Gaitley will be taking over as the head women's basketball coach at Fordham University for the 2011-12 season.

Gaitley coached the Hawks to a 23-10 season, second place in the Northeast Conference (NEC), and a berth in the WNIT where the team lost to Syracuse.
