Polling Places for MRHS Referendum Vote Today from 3-9pm

Eatontown, Tinton Falls and Shrewsbury Township taxpayers can cast their votes from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at a number of locations.

Officials at are putting it in the hands of taxpayers on Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. whether or not to move forward on at $12.3 million construction and renovation project on the 50-year-old school.

The project includes:

  • Renovation of eight science classrooms;
  • Addition of new auxiliary gymnasium;
  • Updating of girls' locker room;
  • New storage space for athletic equipment;
  • New storage space for band and A/V equipment;
  • Repointing of masonry;
  • Addition of solar paneling;
  • Removal of asbestos;
  • Renovation of athletic training room.

Business Administrator Maria Anne Parry estimates that the district will generate about $200,000 in revenue annually from the solar panels.

Paying the debt back over 15 years, Eatontown taxpayers can expect a $13.41 annual increase in the schools portion of their tax bill; Tinton Falls residents' taxes will go up $15.54 yearly; Shrewsbury Township taxes wil rise $7.82.

If paid back over 20 years, Eatontown taxpayers' bills will rise $0.26 annually; Tinton Falls taxes will rise $3.24 and Shrewsbury Township tax bills will increase $0.93.
