Proposal Back To Build 145 Homes On Former Eatontown Golf Course
A new developer took over a prior plan to build a 55+ senior living community at the former Old Orchard County Club.
EATONTOWN, NJ — A proposal is back in Eatontown to build a 145-home 55+ community on a former golf course.
The golf course is the former Old Orchard County Club, located at 54 Monmouth Road and facing Rt. 36 in Eatontown; it permanently closed last year. Its 72 acres have sat vacant and unused ever since.
Eatontown Mayor Anthony Talerico confirmed a proposal has been revived to build 145 homes there. A new developer has taken over the project and there are no changes to any prior approvals this already got from the town.

These will be 145 single-family homes and the community will be age-restricted, meaning 55+ or 60+, but specifics haven't been determined. The homes will be built around a center clubhouse.
The country club building will be demolished.

Coincidentally, a Subaru dealership will be heard March 2 before the Eatontown Planning Board.
Edit to this story: What will be heard at the March 2 Eatontown Planning Board meeting will be an application for a Subaru dealership at the site along Route 36 where commercial zoning is already permitted.
