Seabrook Holds National Volunteer Appreciation Month Celebration
More than 300 residents honored at luncheons
In honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Month, Seabrook held two luncheons on April 21 and April 22 to celebrate the hard work and dedication of the more than 400 residents who volunteer on and off campus. More than 300 residents attended the celebrations.
Associate Executive Paula Digerness welcomed the guests to the celebration and thanked them for their service to the community. “Here at Seabrook, we have a robust volunteer program. So robust that it takes us two days to thank everyone,” Digerness said.
Tinton Falls Mayor Gerald Turning gave the keynote address during the event. “I want to thank each and every one of you on behalf of the Borough Council for the volunteerism that you do,” said Turning.

Resident volunteers contribute over 4,500 hours of service on campus and at not-for-profits in the local community including the Monmouth County SPCA and local food banks. Seabrook’s 125 resident-run activity groups provide individuals the opportunity to lead or participate in a volunteer activity that aligns with their interests.
“I’ve been so blessed. It feels great to help others,” said resident volunteer Katherine Mainzer.
