Some Students Evacuated From Long Branch School After Smoky Conditions

No injuries reported, students back in school.

LONG BRANCH – Roughly a dozen students at the Joseph M. Ferraina Early Childhood Learning Center had to be evacuated due to smoky conditions inside an unoccupied classroom, according to app.com

No one was injured and students are now back in class, Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Stout said.

The cause has been traced to an electrical transformer in heating unit that malfuntioned, which caused the room to fill with smoke, he said

A custodian reported the problem at 7:12 a.m. The smoke was cleared by 8:20 a.m., he said.
