Water Mains Replaced In Long Branch Starting This Week

For the next three months, the work will take place along the following streets:

LONG BRANCH, NJ — Starting this week, New Jersey American Water will replace approximately 2,250 feet of aging water main in Long Branch.

The company will upgrade the aging two- and four-inch cast-iron water lines that were installed in the 1920s with new 8-inch ductile iron main along Hoey Avenue and Reid Street.

  • Hoey Avenue from Cedar Avenue to Overlook Avenue
  • Reid Street entire length

Montana Construction, Inc. began work on Monday and expects to be completed within approximately three months, weather permitting. Work hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work outside of these hours is not expected unless required to maintain project schedule.

Final street restorations will be completed in spring of 2023.

Traffic restrictions and/or alternating traffic patterns are likely to occur during work hours.

The project also includes replacing 22 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route. Additionally, New Jersey American Water will replace any customer-owned service line that has been identified as lead or galvanized as part of a statewide initiative to remove all lead and galvanized service lines by 2031.

This is a $580,000 investment by New Jersey American Water.
