Water Street Repair Update: Engineer Looks to January
The Tinton Falls roadway, which suffered serious erosion following a storm, has been closed since August.

Upon hearing that the reopening of Water Street in had been pushed back to the end of January, , Councilman Steve Schertz, who lives in the neighborhood, joked to the borough engineer, "If I tell my wife that and it doesn't come true, I will hunt you down like a dog."
David Marks, the engineer, had just reported to the council and administration at their meeting on Tuesday that his office received bids for the project that morning and anticipated work to begin in the next two weeks. Marks estimated the job to take about three weeks to complete, putting the reopening of Water Street at around the end of January.
The winning bid was made by Global Construction for $230,000, according to Marks.

The engineer also reported that the borough's road program, which included paving about three miles of roadway throughout the borough, had been completed as well as fixing drainage issues along Hockhockson Road and the intersection of Sycamore Avenue and Homestead Parkway East.
The borough is also anticipating start of in the spring following the transfer of the jurisdiction of the former from the NJ Turnpike Authority to Tinton Falls.
