West Park Avenue in Tinton Falls To Close For Three Weeks
Sanitary sewer replacement project will begin on May 29

A portion of West Park Avenue in Tinton Falls will be closed for about three weeks while sanitary sewer piping on the street is replaced.
The road will be closed to all traffic between Heritage Boulevard and Shafto Road beginning "on or about May 29," according to Tinton Falls Mayor Michael Skudera.

"This road is highly traveled and in need of major repairs," Mayor Skudera said. "My administration, working with the Borough Council, has secured the needed funding to address the issues along this road."
The piping is being replaced by Caruso Excavating on behalf of the Rose Glenn property developers, Mayor Skudera said.

Caruso excavating will install about 1,100 feet of sewer line for the first phase of the project and the borough will install another 800 feet at a later date.
The borough council recently adopted a nearly $300,000 bond ordinance for the improvements which are being done so businesses and properties along the road, including Wawa, can tie into the sewer system. Borough Administrator Gerald Turning has said a company originally hired to install sewer lines for the road several years ago did not properly do the work.
Mayor Skudera said the borough is currently preparing a public bid contract to extend the efforts by the Rose Glenn property developers and complete the sanitary sewer replacement towards Shafto Road. Additional road closures will be required once the second phase of construction begins.
He said the homes with driveways on West Park Avenue will have access to the road throughout construction.
"Detours will be posted, however it is recommended to plan an alternate route," he said in an e-mail to Patch.
