Woman Dies After Getaway Car Crashed With Long Branch Police Car
A female passenger in a suspect getaway car was killed when that car collided with a Long Branch police cruiser, said the Attorney General:
LONG BRANCH, NJ — A woman who was a passenger in a suspect getaway car was killed when that car collided with a Long Branch police cruiser, said the New Jersey Attorney General.
This happened in the pre-dawn hours of Monday morning, said the AG. The two cars collided in the area of MacArthur and Elmwood avenues in Long Branch.
The incident began when Long Branch Police received a 911 call at 3:59 a.m. Monday reporting a home break-in by someone with a gun.

As officers were responding in marked police vehicles, one of the cop cars collided with a car that police think was driven by the suspect.
A female passenger in the car was seriously injured; her identity is not being released at this time. She was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, where she was pronounced dead at approximately 7:12 a.m.

The driver was taken into custody and transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment.
The officer in the involved police vehicle was also taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment of injuries from the crash and has been released.
"The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released at this time," said the Attorney General.
