2 Long Valley Boys Earn Eagle Scout Rank
The Troop 436 members were recently honored for achieving Scouting's highest rank.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — Two local scouts have reached the highest rank in Scouting after completing service projects aimed at giving back to their communities.
Aidan Cuccaro and Jared Thomas Bermeo, both members of Troop 436, were recently recognized for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, according to the Washington Township Police Department.
The two were honored during a Court of Honor ceremony held Aug. 23 at the Fairmount Fire Company.

For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Cuccaro planned, organized, and led the construction and installation of three park benches at Schooley's Mountain Park in Long Valley. The new benches provide additional places for visitors to sit and enjoy the park.
Bermeo's project took him to Passaic County, where he installed a sustainable garden at Banyan High School in Little Falls for students and staff to use and enjoy.

Washington Township Police Officer Sam Lauver attended the Court of Honor on behalf of the department and joined family and community members in recognizing the Scouts' accomplishments.
"Congratulations to both new Eagle Scouts," the department said in announcing the achievement.
Earning the Eagle Scout rank requires Scouts to advance through several ranks, earn merit badges, demonstrate leadership, and complete a substantial service project benefiting their community.
