• Man Sexually Extorted Long Valley Victim Via Social Media, Cops Say (patch.com) — Police say a Randolph man was arrested after a weeks-long investigation into sexual extortion involving a Long Valley victim, where explicit photos and threats were used to coerce more images. The suspect faces cyber harassment, sexual extortion, and invasion of privacy charges and is being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility. Authorities have not yet released his name, but more details may follow through public records.    

• Penn State Blue Band Announces New Blue Sapphire (onwardstate.com) — A Long Valley native, Delaney Higgins, has been named Penn State’s next Blue Sapphire feature twirler, one of the university’s most high-profile spirit roles. The incoming psychology major will perform at football games and major events, continuing a long-running Blue Band tradition that draws more than 100,000 fans to Beaver Stadium each game day.    

• Sypeck Named Defensive Player of the Year (fingerlakesdailynews.com) — Long Valley’s own Casey Fiore, a West Morris Central graduate, is anchoring William Smith College’s nationally ranked defense as starting goalie while teammate Janey Sypeck earns Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year. Fiore’s strong season has helped the Herons secure a 17-2 record and an automatic NCAA Tournament berth.
