Baseball Coach, Long Valley Grandfather Dies at 82
Joseph D'Alessandro spent 46 years living on town.

Joseph “Sonny” D’Alessandro lived in Long Valley for the past 46 years, but his presence was felt around northern New Jersey.
The grandfather and avid baseball fan died recently at age 82, according to his obituary.
D’Alessandro was a retired butcher from Kings and Stop and Shop, and also owned Legends Baseball Academy. He coached the sport for Chester’s American Legion Post 342 as well as Bergen Community College. D’Alessandro also loved music, playing the drums and harmonica.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine, of 59 years, four children, and five grandchildren.
